Meet Shauna Ryan.

I arrived here about three months ago. Previously I’ve lived in the Lake Macquarie area and also spent the better part of a year in Los Angeles. Newcastle is vibrant and the weather’s amazing. I love that there are so many places to discover; I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface.  My day starts at Wildflower Coffee at The Station where I do a little bit of work from there and then I swing in to see my friends at Secret Book Stuff and we plan world domination. Then I go back to my apartment for more work. I might consider a coworking space if I could afford it, but I work really really well in cafes. I love the energy of a café, everyone is coming in for caffeine sustenance, and I can easily tune out. The biggest struggle since I’ve moved has been the social aspect. I’ve been going to networking events and cafes trying to meet likeminded people. Because I’m new and didn’t have any friends from here I haven’t been able to make many connections that go past nine to five. I have a digital media management business called ComeUnity Narrative where I assist creatives in the management of their digital and social media. I also run Strong Woman which is a multi-platform community where I connect with women both locally and internationally to tell stories that represent the diversity of strength and beauty in different journeys. And, speaking of beautiful journeys, I live in Newcastle East and I love walking to Bar Beach and back.

Pawel Jarecki

Pawel Jarecki

Meet Pawel Jarecki. Since I’ve moved to Newcastle I’ve been brought back to life. Before that I was creatively dead. The Sydney environment wears you down. People work quite hard just to get the bills paid, and then I came up here and I hardly met anyone with a full...
